About Us

Why did God create women? What is true beauty? What's the point of purity? Modesty? Femininity? We've wondered too; but the answers we've received from our culture have been lacking.

Ask the world what womanhood is about and you'll get a blank stare in return. No one knows. Young women are devoid of vision beyond achieving fame, fortune and a dream career. From feminism to immodesty, apathy to confusion, our culture's idea of womanhood is distorted at best.

God had something greater in mind. From the start of creation, women were designed to live beautifully.

But God's idea of beauty is not about physical characteristics or the approval of others. It's about loving the God who created us for His glory and enjoying the unique design He's given us.

Inner beauty, however, is distinct. It's not intrinsic. It doesn't come naturally or easily. This beauty slowly develops in the heart as a believer learns to love Christ more deeply. The more passionate for the Gospel we become, the more our hearts grow to reflect His image.

The goal of Beauty from the Heart is to nurture this growing beauty, and to counter the culture's ideal for womanhood with God's breathtaking vision.

About the Writers:
Lindsey Wagstaffe

As a nineteen year old speaker and writer, Lindsey Wagstaffe's passion is for her generation to see the glory of Christ, and cherish Him unreservedly. She qualified at the National level in competitive speech in 2008, and she is the reigning Persuasive speaking champion for the state of California in the highly competitive NCFCA league. Lindsey is the co-author of the Beauty from the Heart website, where her writing has challenged and encouraged young women for years.

When she isn't writing or speaking, Lindsey devours the works of great theologians with a voracious appetite. She loves to dwell upon and talk about the doctrines of grace, which never cease to humble her, fill her with awe, and move her to rejoicing.

She delights in spending time with the family God has blessed her with, laughing with her friends, and taking long walks in the California sunshine. She calls a small town outside San Francisco home, but is studying at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

Hannah Farver

At twenty years old, Hannah Farver is an author and sometimes-journalist. In 2005, she co-founded a website for young women called Beauty from the Heart. The fledgling site expanded rapidly, becoming one of the most popular websites of its kind on the net for Christian young ladies. For the past several years, her writing has also found its way into WORLD magazine and The Christian Post.

In her “spare” time, Hannah enjoys singing old musical numbers, swing dancing, spending time with friends and family, and attempting to brew the perfect cup of chai. She's from Dallas, Texas, but attends school in Northern Virginia at Patrick Henry College, where she plans to major in journalism.
